SRI LANKA, AMPARA (South of India): Rev. Neil Edirisingh (31 years old) has ministered in the Christian Evangelical Alliance Church for many years, but recently he led a very prominent leader of the city from Hinduism to Christ. On February 17th two hired gunmen shot and killed him and shot his wife Shiromi (27 years old) in the stomach. She is in critical condition in hospital and their two year old son received a minor injury but suffers from trauma. Pray for this family, the congregation, and the two assailants.
PAKISTAN: Thank God for the reasonably safe elections held on this past Monday. Pray for a strong democratic government to rise up that will stabilize the country, eliminate corruption and violence, and curb the use of shariah law so ruthless against minorities. 96% Muslim and 2.5% Christians calls for a fair system of justice and a police force that upholds the law. May God protect the Christians and give them great courage and holy boldness to share the Gospel with all non-believers.
NIGERIA: Yana (Northern Nigeria): A young Muslim man went to call on the home of a Christian girl to marry him. He told her it was the will of Mohammed. Patience Yusef (16) declined his offer. She told him, "Jesus I know, but I don't know Mohammed!" The man gathered friends and neighbors and declared Patience had "blasphemed Mohammed". Fierce violence broke out with one person dying, seven Christians hospitalized and five churches destroyed. Pray for Patience and her family's safety. Pray the Christians would remain strong and courageous in their faith. Pray Muslims would be open to the Gospel.
ALGERIA - N. WEST AFRICA: Muslim clerics have prepared a new anti-missionary program which encourages citizens to report all missionary activity and plans to raise funds to be used to dissuade local people who consider converting to Christianity. It also seeks to promote propaganda refuting Christian claims. Pray for all Christians in Algeria, for the Gospel to spread despite opposition, and for this new program to fail.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in power to bring renewed calling, purpose, restoration and spiritual progress to each of the courageous leaders.
EGYPT: Pray for a courageous young Christian convert from Islam who is demanding the courts recognize he is a Christian and not a Muslim. Mohammed Hegazy (25) and his wife had a baby girl on January10 and they fear that if his religious affiliation as a Christian is not legally recognized, his daughter will have to inherit Islam and one day have to marry a Muslim man. On January 29 the court refused his request, so he now intends to take his case to the Supreme Court! Please pray for Hegazy to have the Lord's wisdom, peace, courage and favor as he challenges the higher court. May God protect him and his family.
ERITREA - NORTH EAST AFRICA: On January 27, 2008, 30 more Christians were arrested by government authorities and imprisoned in the Red Sea port city of Masawa. Please pray for their courage, health and strength and also that their faith would remain strong.
KENYA & PAKISTAN: Please continue to pray for a peaceful settlement in Kenya. All of Africa is being affected with food , gas & oil hold-ups. Pray for the Rift Valley Academy in Nairobi where many children of missionaries
come to study from many other countries. After 3 weeks delay in opening the school after the Christmas break the students & staff will need God's grace & wisdom to complete their studies.
Please pray for all the Christians in Kenya and Pakistan two volatile nations. Due to presidential elections that are taking place, violence has erupted and innocent people are suffering and many are dying for no rational reason. May they receive the mentoring they need to become mature Christians and be anointed to share their faith with many others who need Jesus.
MEXICO: Pray for Christians in the southern state of CHIAPAS (near Guatemala). In December,1997 45 innocent people were massacred in Acteal. 34 evangelical Christians were wrongly accused, imprisoned and given 25-36 year sentences. After 10 years of failed appeals and the prisoners and families suffering, new evidence has been found to help prove their innocence. Please pray for the Lord's favor to be upon the people involved, prisoners, lawyers, judges, and also for the 15 other prisoners who have come to the Lord during this time. May God get the glory for this just outcome.
INDIA: Pray for Christians in India where violence has become a daily tragedy. As the believers in Orissa State were preparing for their Christmas celebrations, it angered the militant Hindu groups. So from December 24 to January 2 ninety churches were burned to the ground. Over 600 homes and shops have been torched or vandalized, and people have died but the total number is not known. Please pray the Lord will strengthen and protect the believers, comfort those who have lost loved ones and convict the militants to cease their violence & come to the Lord themselves!

The situation is still critical as Odinga is a devout Muslim who has openly declared his desire for Kenya to be an Islamic nation ruled by Sharia Law. Pray for all who minister the Gospel, and for all believers to be courageous, wise and bold in sharing the Gospel as they shine forth the love of Jesus.
