Prayer - Notes from 2007

Prayer Notes from 2007

EGYPT: In Cairo, the capital city of 16 million people there are 4 neighborhoods where the garbage collectors or Zebbaleen live. Nearly 50,000 people, most of them Christians, reside in these ghettos. Poor, uneducated and treated as dirt in a Muslim dominated society these people need our prayers. Their source to hear the Gospel is through Christian radio, television, literature, videos and CDs. Pray for the ministries that provide the programs for these spiritually hungry and needy people.

PRAISE REPORT: PERU: In 1995 David de Vinatea, an evangelical Christian and a high-ranking officer in the Peruvian military helped to place several evil drug warlords in prison. Later that same year someone planted drugs in his office and he was arrested for drug trafficking and given a 16 year sentence. MANY PRAYERS went up for David for 8 years when in Nov. 2003 he was finally proven innocent and President Toledo gave him a pardon. (He had won many prisoners to the Lord during this time.) David was recently made Director of the Christian ministry RBC International, for Peruvian military bases. He shares his testimony and the need for every soldier to believe in Jesus and gives the officers and troops a special military edition of "Our Daily Bread" . In less than a year he has distributed over 56,000 copies . He hopes soon to be made the Chaplain for all the forces (& may even have his military rank restored to him) PRAISE GOD for His many answers to prayer! May 2008 be a year full of even more!

DENVER, CO, USA Please pray for Christians suffering from a brutal attack by a young man last Sunday. Peter Warren, the leader of the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) base in Arvada CO, reported the shooting death of Tiffany Johnson (26) and Philip Crouse (24) at the base. 2 others were seriously injured. 12 hours later, after the Sunday AM service at New Life Church in Denver, where 10, 000 people were in attendance, the same young man opened fire on people as they left the service. Pastor Brady Boyd reported that 2 sisters, Stephany (18) and Rachael (16) Wocks, died of gunshot wounds, and their father was seriously injured before a guard in the church shot the young man to prevent him from harming any others. Pray for the families, the ministries and their leaders as this senseless tragedy has shocked the Christian community around the world. (YWAM has 16,000 missionaries working in 149 countries.)

PAKISTAN - Pray for peace in Pakistan. The population of nearly 170 million people has approximately 96% Muslims and 3% Christians. President Pervez Mushareff resists granting democracy to his people though the elections indicated that was their choice. He insists on military rule which encourages Muslim extremists to cruelly and ruthlessly attack Christians. Pray for Christians to remain strong in their faith.

CHINA - Pray for the Christians in China! A massive crackdown on religious freedom has been ordered due to the approaching Beijing Olympics in 2008. There is to be no sign of Christianity evidenced. Hundreds of humanitarian aid workers have been sent out of the country on short notice. Two Christian attorneys have been attacked.
