CONGRATULATIONS. . .

. . . on the birth of your child! We sincerely hope that the Lord will continue to bless your family as your children grow and give you great wisdom to guide them. We hope you take advantage of all the Nursery has to offer. Our goal is to be a safe and loving environment for your child and to help them in their first steps to knowing Jesus.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Pastor Ramona @ 769-9331 or via email as per the guidelines for email on the contact page here.

SUNDAY MORNINGS

In order to provide safe and loving care for your child, please:

  1. Sunday A.M: Receive name tag at Central Registration prior to the service (9:50-10:15a.m.) You may bring your child in at any time during the morning.

Other Ministry Times: Receive name tag at the Nursery counter.

  2. Pagers: When you hand your child to the supervisor, he or she will give you a numbered pager (they vibrate to alert you.) Parents are not to enter the Nursery unless requested to.

  3. Diapers and Diaper Bags: We do not change diapers. When your child needs a diaper change, nursery staff will page you. Change areas and bathrooms are close by. You may leave your diaper bag with us; how-ever, all items should be labeled.

  4. Snacks: Unsalted soda crackers and water are the snacks provided. Please be sure the Nursery staff are aware of any food allergies or if your child should not be given a snack.

HEALTH

Since young children's immune systems are more vulnerable than our own, it is inevitable that they will "catch cold" and contagious diseases from others. Although we can't totally isolate our children from sickness (or we'd never come to church) we do want to make every effort to minimize the spread of sickness in the Nursery.

Do not sign your child into the Nursery if he/she is anywhere near the contagious stage of a serious illness (chicken pox, etc.) or has a very runny nose, or is sneezing or coughing a lot. If your child seems to have a contagious disease, the Nursery Supervisor will not admit your child.

Toys and crib linens are washed weekly.

Staff are encouraged to wash their hands frequently while attending to the children.

THE NURSERY

For babies from 0-23 months (this age is extended to 36 months for Focus 2:42 nights and Sundays that land on a long weekend). It offers a safe place for children to be loved and cared for.

If you are not familiar with the Nursery, ask for a guided tour. Look for . . .

The Nursing Mothers' Room

A quiet place for mothers and babies, this room features audio reception from the sanctuary, chairs, pillows, couch with changing areas and washroom close by.

The Parents' Room

A place where moms and dads can settle their restless children without missing too much of the service or watch their children through a one-way window into the Nursery. This room features audio reception from the sanctuary as well.

The Sleeping Babies' Rooms

Located inside the Nursery, these rooms offer cribs, clean linen and a quiet place for your child to sleep. Each room has a monitor and is supervised by the Nursery staff.

VOLUNTEERS

One of the big reasons our Nursery is such a terrific place for little ones is because of the parents who help out. If you have a child in the Nursery and are a regular attendee at Evangel, we encourage both mom and dad to be on our 4-5 week rotation. It's a great place to get to know other young families as well.

We are currently accepting new volunteers to serve in our nursery facility here at Evangel (babies to 23 months). Volunteer commitment 1X a month on Sunday mornings, or as a substitute. Next schedule begins in April. Please contact Pastor Ramona at 769-9331 or email. If you have some volunteer time during the week and would be interested in cleaning the nursery please call Pastor Ramona (includes washing toys, dusting furniture, etc.).

PLAN TO PROTECT

Plan to Protect

It is our commitment to provide protective care to all children and youth attending any programs sponsored by Evangel.

We will screen all those who work with children and youth. p>We will check references and do criminal checks. Anyone found to have a criminal record involving children will not be allowed to work with children or youth at Evangel.

We will train all of our staff, both paid and volunteer, to understand the nature of child abuse, to carry out our policies to prevent abuse, and to follow clearly defined reporting procedures for suspected incidents.

All of our children and youth workers will sign a Ministry Covenant, agreeing to comply with the church policy and guidelines.

We have adopted a basic "two leader" rule which states that two people should be present during any children's activity. We will follow the "six month" rule, which states that volunteers may work with children after having attended Evangel for six months or having reference checks, pref- erably from their previous church.
