How is the HMI BC team today??
Well, it is playoff time in Junior hockey, and all systems are go!

The Lord has provided more door-openings again this month.... I will
briefly tell you the February story...
In mid-February, I had the great privilege of distributing pocket sized
leather covered New Testaments to every player, coach and office staff
member of my Junior A club. They were received wonderfully, with many
great comments. I had the New Testaments embossed with each players
name, their number and the name of the hockey club on them, plus Hockey
Ministries International. I wrote a personal note on the flyleaf of
each Bible, and I am believing that the Lord will do His silent but
wonderful work in each heart and life.

I had some real good meetings this month, one with my Head Coach, Mark
Howell, and also with the Prince George Coach Ed Dempsey. This meeting
was historic, in that Prince George Junior A hockey has never had a
chapel program, and still doesn't.. but it is coming. Coach Dempsey was
open to the idea, (after many years of pursuit) so please pray for the
proposed chapel program with the Prince George Spruce Kings.
me with Colin Chornohus Chaplain for the Burnaby Express and the Vancouver Canucks
I was invited to present 2 awards at the Westside Warriors Awards
banquet on February 22. I felt completely embraced by the club, which
is a great platform to work from. When there is trust between a
chaplain a hockey club, much spiritual progress can be made. This trust
extends to the fans who attend games as well. I have had the best
conversations with many of them over the last season. I pray that these
will continue, complete with many opportunities to lead people to
personal faith and trust in Christ.
with Joey Cyr, chaplain of the BCHL's Penticton Vees
On February 14 - 15, Lorraine and I traveled to Quesnel, where we shared
at Bethel Church. Thanks to Pastors Cliff and Monte for their kindness.
Pastor Monte is doing a good job as the chaplain for the Quesnel
Millionaires Junior A club.
On the horizon are more potential chapel programs. Again, your prayers
are so valuable in this work, as we ask for God's leading in potential
programs in Fernie, Campbell River, and Comox. Also, I have requested a
15 minute time slot to make an HMI presentation at the BCHL Board of
Governors meeting in June. I am waiting for the results of my request.
I have also requested participation at the 2009 Royal Bank Cup, to be
held in Victoria, BC May 2 - 10. I would like to bring an HMI chaplains
presence to the RBC as I sing National Anthems and say grace at the
Banquet. I know that you will add this to your growing prayer list.
Finally, I want to thank you for your support of HMI BC. I am keenly
aware of the economic struggles of so many people, and I don't take for
granted the sacrifices that you make as a team. God Bless you for that.
God is faithful, and He is in control.
Your hockey missionary,
Don Richmond,
