It's time for another edition... of HMI BC News!

'And He made known to us the mystery of His will, which He purposed in Christ." Eph. 1:9

Any plan to introduce grace into a graceless world has always been a bit revolutionary. That is exactly what God did in Jesus; by bringing to light the mystery of His will, purposed in Christ. That message of hope is what people desperately need, grace in their graceless world. (You know, there are days I just feel like preaching!)

Here are some February HMI BC highlights...

At the beginning of the month, I traveled to Houston, BC, where I made a HMI presentation at the Houston Baptist Church. It was good to be with my boys, their wives and our two grandsons while I was there. (It was a great bonus to watch the Super Bowl with the boys!) While I was up north, I took an opportunity to spend a little time with my Mom and Dad. Mom is stabilized, although she is not able to care fully for herself. We are continuing to remember her in prayer.

I had the privilege of spending time with a few couples preparing them for marriage, and on Feb. 16th, I was so pleased to officiate at the marriage of the office manager of our club and her fiance'. The relationships that are formed in HMI expand far beyond a chapel every few weeks for a few players. This world of HMI BC is expanding, the Lord is enlarging the boundaries.

On Feb. 18th - 19th, I traveled to Langley, to visit with the Harvey Smyl, Coach of the Langley Chiefs Junior A hockey club. After a good chat, Harvey emailed that same day and requested that we begin an HMI chapel program with the Chiefs! Thank you Lord!! Also, I visited with Colin Chornohus while I was there. Colin is the chaplain for the Burnaby Express Junior A club. He is doing an amazing job with the Express.

Chaplaincy Program
Award bears)

On Feb. 23rd - 24th, I went to Nelson, a small city in the Kootenays. It was a faith trip, in that I was not sure if the Coach of the Nelson Leafs would meet with me. I started out feeling a bit like Abram on his way to Canaan, in that I was not sure of what would lie ahead. I prayed as I drove, and about an hour from Nelson, my cell phone rang, and it was the Coach! He did agree to meet me, and when we were done, he shook my hand and said, "Let's start chapels in the fall."

-- Mike and his wife Sheila live in
Trail, and have opened their home
to me any time I am in the area.
(Sheila makes awesome
Mango/curry chicken!!)
Wow, two new chapel programs in 6 days.... It left me numb! Even now, it is hard to fathom.

The next day was Sunday, and I spoke at Gateway Church in Trail. We had an tremendous time that morning, as the people responded well to the vision of Hockey Ministries.

That afternoon, I rushed home, (four hours drive) in order to attend the Westside Warriors Awards Banquet.

Brent Barrett and Phil
--Brent is a local
businessman who
sponsored both awards
that I presented
I was asked to pray for the meal and also to present 2 awards; the Phil Dalgleish Chaplaincy Program Award and the Humanitarian Award. What a privilege that was.

Debbie and Dale Williams
of Trail, who have come alongside
me since they first heard
of HMI in BC.
What a blessing they are!
Addendum: I have had great times of personal talks with players recently. As the trust grows in our relationship, so does the level of vulnerability. It is so wonderful to speak about their personal lives and of faith in Jesus.

Until the Final Horn sounds,
