Evangel's DNA as a congregation of believers has grown over the years to more fully embrace our motto, "Passion for God, Compassion for People". Among the list of values that Evangel's people have expressed, (listed below/on the Who We Are Page), three of them have become the driving force behind who Evangel has become and the role Evangel has in the greater community of believers, and in the community of Kelowna itself.

Participation in Unity

You will find Evangel's people involved in many activities shared with other churches around the valley, from the CoK street ministry downtown every Monday night, to Teen Challenge and Freedom's Door, to sharing in inter-church gatherings such as MissionsNow '08 and '09, inter-church prayer gatherings, and more. Evangel's leadership is not concerned with having Evangel's name on whatever activity is taking place, in fact many times people may not even know Evangel is taking part unless they happen to recognize faces or names from this congregation. This is deliberately done to foster a sense of unity among the churches of Kelowna, a sense of commraderie among members of different congregations, and an actively lived-out desire to work together with the other churches of this valley.

To this end Evangel has pastoral staff actively involved in the Kelowna Evangelical Ministerial, and members of the congregation volunteer on boards, or lead various ministries around Kelowna that welcome inter-church partnerships.

Offering of Ourselves

In addition to working together with other churches, Evangel itself offers The Free Store, both to its members who are seeking assistance, as well as to the wider community outside its walls. For those needing more than food or clothing, Evangel has "The Assignment", where people can request assistance for anything from housing to transportation to yardwork to babysitting and everything in between. Evangel's benevolence ministry strongly believes in connecting the giver with the receiver, and seeks to find ways in which the receiver's value in the eyes of God is recognized and utilized both for their own benefit as well as for the benefit of others.

It is Evangel's belief that through the display of active, caring, loving outreach into the community, that ears will be opened to the Gospel of Christ, that hearts will be softened to receive the Gift of Salvation and come to that relationship with God that we are so passionate about!
